Cricket Wellington
Pre-Order* Te Whanganui-a-Tara Māori Cricket tōkena
Couldn't load pickup availability
These tōkena (socks) feature the Te Whanganui-a-Tara tohu (logo) and kōwhaiwhai (patterns) both designed by ringatoi (artist) Whareahuru Gilbert.
The tohu depicts Ngake and Whataitai, the two taniwha that resided in the Wellington harbour when it was a lake. The upoko of each taniwha are inspired by manaia of both Taranaki and Takapūwāhia, recognising both mana whenua. The intertwining of the taniwha represents the whanaungatanga and kotahitanga of all Iwi and people who come to Te Whanganui-a-Tara.
The kōwhaiwhai patterns use kōiri and unaunahi to depict fronds of the punga – a symbol of strength in te ao Māori. This acknowledges that everyone wearing them comes with their whānau and hapū standing behind them
All sock sizes are in mens size.
Pre-orders will close on Sunday 5th October and will arrive with us later this year.
